Fluorous Technologies Launches Innovative Website

Fluorous Technologies encourages you to visit our new and improved website. In keeping with our motto, we think you'll find it faster and simpler to find what you are looking for, including information on our latest innovations and practical applications of fluorous technology. Our existing customers will also find a new customer service section devoted to making a success of their everyday use of our products. Let us know what you think!

Fluorous Technologies and Biotage Hold Joint Workshop at ACS NOLA

Find out how you can combine powerful FluoroFlash™ fluorinated silica gel with Biotage's unique prepacked cartridge technology and automated High-Performance FLASH Chromatography (HPFC) systems. By attending, you will discover new strategic options for conducting fluorous parallel synthesis and purifying the resulting reaction mixtures.

The workshop will be held Tuesday, March 25th. Register online or fax your contact information to 202-872-4410. If you can't make it to our workshop, please visit Fluorous Technologies at booth 1344 or Biotage at booth 1607 to learn more.

Fluorous & Microwave - Speed Up Reactions and Separations

At the conference of Microwave-Assisted Organic Synthesis held in Feb. 27 in La Jolla, California, Dr. Wei Zhang, head of combinatorial chemistry at FTI, received the best poster award. His poster entitled "Microwave-Assisted Fluorous Synthesis: Speed Up Reaction and Separations" showed how microwave reactions combined with fluorous separations can dramatically increase the speed of organic synthesis.

In a typical "flash fluorous synthesis" under microwave conditions, a chemist can finish the whole process including reaction, purification, and product characterization in less than one hour. In his poster, Dr. Zhang presented several examples, including the use of F-Sulfonyl Fluoride as a tag to produce intermediate fluorous sulfonates which were then employed during microwave-assisted Suzuki couplings. The reaction mixture was readily purified by solid-phase extraction over FluoroFlash™ cartridges.

Fluorous Technologies Rolls Out New Products

Innovation is our specialty and we continue to bring the latest in fluorous products to market. In addition to F-Sulfonyl Fluoride, an innovative "catch and release" fluorous tag, several other new products join our growing catalog: F-DMS, a useful reagent for Corey-Kim oxidations and F-DMSO for Swern oxidation. Both were first reported by Crich in Tetrahedron 2002, 58, 3865-3870. We have also added F-Carboxylic Acids, useful building blocks and scavengers (as reported in Org. Lett. 2001, Vol 3, No 15, 2361-2364).
