The fluorous salen ligand can be used to form either cobalt or manganese complexes for various synthetic transformations, including the kinetic resolution of epoxides (1), oxidation of sulfides (2), and epoxidation of alkenes (3). The ligands and metal complexes can be used under fluorous biphasic conditions for recovery and reuse. Alternatively, the ligand and metal complex can be removed using F-SPE.
